Higher education
Erasmus+ offers students int higher education the opportunity to gain international experience and knowledge:
• by studying at one of the partner higher education institutions;
• by undertaking internships at foreign companies or other relevant workplaces;
• by undertaking a combined study and internship period abroad.
A study mobility participant receives funding for the implementation of activities from their sending college.
You can participate in mobility starting from the second year of study.
For studies:
• minimum duration – 3 months;
• maximum duration – 12 months.
For internships:
• minimum duration – 2 months;
• maximum duration – 12 months.
Within a single study cycle (during bachelor’s studies (including first-level higher professional education), master’s, and doctoral studies), a student may participate in study and/or internship mobility for up to 12 months (this period also includes Erasmus+ mobility between Programme and Partner Countries, mobility implemented under the Lifelong Learning Programme, and Erasmus Mundus studies).
At the beginning of each academic year, the Erasmus+ coordinator organizes an informational seminar on study and internship opportunities abroad, the application process, and sets the application deadline for October 31.
When applying for studies at a partner university, the student submits the following to the Erasmus+ coordinator:
a completed application form and programme, signed and approved by the director of the study programme;
a CV (Europass format) in English (does not apply to short-term mobility);
a recommendation from a college foreign language (in which studies will take place at the selected partner university) instructor;
documents certifying proficiency in the foreign language in which studies will take place at the selected partner university (if applicable).

• a completed application form and internship programme, signed by the director of the study programme;
• a CV (Europass format) in English;
• a letter of motivation addressed to the potential host organization abroad—in English, German, French, or another official language of the European Union, depending on the language in which the student plans to conduct the internship;
• a letter prepared by the potential internship host confirming its readiness to ensure a full-fledged internship within the framework of Erasmus+;
• documents certifying proficiency in the foreign language in which communication will take place at the internship company (if applicable).
Objectives of internship mobility:
• to provide students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience at a company or organization in another European country;
• to help students adapt to the requirements of the EU labour market;
• to provide students and recent graduates with the opportunity to develop specific skills, including language skills, and to improve their understanding of economic and social culture;
• promote cooperation between higher education institutions and businesses;
• foster the development of well-qualified, open-minded, and internationally experienced young people – future professionals.
At the beginning of each academic year, staff are informed about current opportunities to apply for Erasmus+ mobility programmes during departmental and staff joint meetings The deadline for applications is October 31. Information is also available on the college website or is sent to the college email.
The staff member submits a completed form and a letter of invitation from the host institution (if applicable).

- Kaunas Technical College (Lithuania) (2-5 days);
- Utena College (Lithuania) (2-5 days);
- Centro público integrado de formación profesional “MONTEARAGÓN” (Spain) (2-5 days).
To encourage student participation in the Erasmus+ programme, we ask mobility participants to share their experiences of their Erasmus internship mobility in a story of approximately one page in length.

Malnava College is implementing the Erasmus+ project "Student and Staff Mobility in Higher Education" (2025-1-LV01-KA131-HED-0003).
Project objective: to provide students with opportunities to study and gain practical experience, as well as to offer higher education staff opportunities for professional development or participation in teaching mobility abroad.
Mobility in higher education under the Erasmus+ programme:
• contributes to the creation of the European Education Area;
• strengthens the link between education and science;
• develops critical thinking skills for students across all fields of study and levels of education;
• promotes employability, social inclusion, citizenship, innovation, and environmental sustainability both within Europe and beyond its borders;
• fosters the development of transnational and interdisciplinary study programmes, as well as the development and adoption of new learning and teaching methods.
Under this project, students may apply for study mobility, and faculty members - for study and teaching mobility.
Total budget: EUR 117.212.00 from the European Union and EUR 21.533.00 from the Latvian state budget.
