From 23 to 25 September, a competition for young people took place in Denmark - an innovation camp Climate smart agriculture.  Sixteen young people from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Norway, and Latvia participated. Latvia was represented at this event, organized by Europea International, by three students from LBTU Malnava College: Jānis Seržans, Jēkabs Vaivods, and Roberts Cakuls from the agricultural mechanization technicians. The students were accompanied by teacher Mārīte Valeniece.

During these days, the young people worked in mixed groups, each on their own project. The groups developed a vision for a future agricultural school, discussed climate-friendly farming, and considered the responsible use and restoration of resources. Tamara and Juci from Hungary worked alongside the students and inspired them.

To gain more experience and insights, the young people went on field trips to farms and to an organic agriculture school.

On the final evening, each group presented their project to representatives from 20 countries—members of Europea International—who represent various educational institutions in the agricultural sector.

The young people gained valuable experience, improved their English language skills, and developed their ability to speak in public, collaborate, accept different viewpoints, and explore cultural differences.

The young people’s thoughts and impressions:

Jēkabs: I really liked everything about Denmark—we went on field trips, visited farms, saw animals, and toured farms. The living conditions and food were excellent. I was thrilled that so many people listened to our group’s presentation.

Roberts: The trip to Denmark was interesting. Working on the group project was a bit harder than I had thought. During the project, I made new friends, improved my English skills, and honed my public speaking and presentation skills. Overall, I took away only positive impressions from the trip.

Jānis: I went to Denmark thinking it would just be a small, insignificant project, but once I was there, I realized that wasn’t the case. This trip was truly an adventure; these will be good memories that I’ll cherish for a long time. I met many new friends whom I didn’t even want to say goodbye to. Everyone I met created a warm, supportive atmosphere around me. I hope I’ll have the chance to participate in projects like this again!

The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme No. 2025-1-LV01-KA121-VET-000331161 Mobility of Individuals for Learning Purposes
