LBTU Malnava College Launches the Programme Organic Farming as Part of the STARS Project
On 27 November 2025, LBTU Malnava College launched training under the European Social Fund Plus project Support for Adult Education Based on Individual Needs (the STARS project), offering participants a professional development opportunity—the educational programme Organic Farming.
In response to the growing interest in organic farming and to prepare professionals for the job market, LBTU Malnava College offers a practice-oriented professional development programme featuring a wide range of theoretical and practical training. The educational programme (module) Organic Farming is designed to provide practical, up-to-date, and market-relevant knowledge for those who wish to develop or start organic farming. The module comprises more than 112 academic hours, covering the selection of various agricultural species and varieties, animal husbandry and feeding conditions, regulatory requirements, the certification process, and the use of precision technologies on organic farms. Classes are held both online and in person.
Programme participants will learn:
the regulatory requirements and legal provisions governing organic farming;
the principles of animal welfare, husbandry, and feeding in organic farming;
the basic principles of soil quality maintenance and agroecology;
crop and livestock production technologies and their practical application;
certification requirements and product documentation;
modern precision technologies that help improve the efficiency of organic farming.
The recognition of organic farming is growing in Latvia and Europe, creating a demand for specialists who can ensure environmentally friendly, economically sound, and sustainable farming. That is precisely why LBTU Malnava College, through this course, is strengthening opportunities for adults to acquire the professional skills necessary for modern farm management.

The training is being implemented as part of European Social Fund Plus project No. 4.2.4.2/1/24/I/001 Support for Adult Education Based on Individual Needs.
